What inspired you to create the Brighton Icons and what are they?
“The Brighton Icons are a set of visual artworks created in a loose pencil and colour style that describe Brighton's best and most well known landmarks and venues. The visual style puts me in mind of a pre-camera era Brighton visitor drawing a set of images as a momento of their stay."
"They were originally commissioned by the Brighton and Hove Tourism Alliance to be placed on a huge hand drawn 3D style map of Brighton that I created. It is now in place as a permanent wayfinding map exhibit next to the Brighton station ticket office. The icons have proved very popular and are now also on view on the side of a building also at Brighton station on the train platform to and from London. From an artist point of view this is very exciting as they're the first things visitors see when they arrive and the last thing they see as they leave the city. Hopefully people will become so used to seeing them they’ll be part of Brighton's great history themselves."
