Welcome to Winter

Christmas Inspirations KT Robbins Ceramics Simple Natural wreath Wanderlust & Adventures Wild Sussex Winter

Winter has well and truly started this week with snow in many parts of the country. It was such a shame that it didn’t come all the way down to Lewes. I love this time of the year with its frosty mornings, weekends venturing outside and then coming back inside to snuggle up and watch a family movie.

A Visit to Wild Sussex

On one of our days out we visited a very unique place. Based in a beautiful ancient oak-framed barn at the Wood Yard just near the old Stopham bridge, within the South Downs National Park, is a beautiful pop-up shop called Wild Sussex.

Our day out took us to the unique Wild Sussex shop. Love the hand drawn sign and fire pit in the background.

The shop also sells beautifully made goods by talented local craftspeople, including wood-fired pottery by Tina Bowbrick, wooden serving boards and original Sussex trugs made in Herstmonceux. We left with a naturally formed magic wand and some raw Pulborough Honey, which tastes absolutely divine.

During December in the run up to Christmas the shop turns into something very magical. A place where you can pick up your own locally grown Christmas tree, toast Marshmallows over the fire pit and eat Dry-aged beef burgers from Garlic Wood Farm (with a vegetarian option available) and make decorations with your children. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity if you live near. The Christmas shop will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout December (until Saturday, 23rd December).

What Paul and Sam have created is so special and I love how they bring the community together. We can’t wait to go back very soon.

Making a simple winter wreath

I went outside and foraged some ivy, which grows everywhere in abundance, and made it into a very simple wreath. It feels lovely to bring nature inside the house and it still looks really fresh, even after one week. There is a beautiful wreath tutorial over on Botanical Tales by Bex Partridge, which I am definitely going to give a go next.

I have been so happy that Katie from KT Robbins Ceramics has launched her beautiful ‘Landscape’ and ‘Skyscape’ collection in collaboration with our shop. All pieces have nearly sold out. You can still snap up a couple of her pink & grey hand thrown beakers in time for Christmas.
